Clear Water Swimming Pool Chlorinators

By Cherry Mercer

Relaxation time is enhanced when family, friends and neighbors gather round a sparkling refreshing pool. This is a time for playing the role of host and hostess and ensuring that everyone is having fun. On such occasions guests should be encouraged to swim or simply to dangle their legs in the clear blue water maintained by a chlorinator. This is when swimming pool chlorinators should prove that they are worth their weight in gold.

Entertainment is so much easier when the facilities supply the perfect environment for the guests. A good host needs a maintenance system that is reasonably economical, and more importantly, reliable. Upkeep of the swimming facilities must be labor efficient so that he can direct his attention to preparing for and entertaining his guests.

Salt swimming pool chlorinators will provide the clarity and cleanliness required at a very reasonable price and without hours of work. Equally importantly, chemical products are avoided. This is a key consideration in respect of health and safety.

Chlorine is undoubtedly an effective method of maintaining the clarity of standing water, but it is not without risk. Storage of chlorine can be dangerous but so can the much of the chemical. It creates an unpleasant smell and unpleasant swimming conditions as many swimmers suffer from skin and eye complaints when they encounter the chemicals in water.

A fairly large amount of salt is required for the initial application. An average amount would be in the region of two hundred kilograms. This may seem a startling amount to an individual using this method for the first time.

Salt is not expensive but two hundred kilograms of anything is costly. Fortunately, this large amount is a once off requirement. It is also necessary to weigh the expense against the price of chemical cleaners and to take into account that the price is not fixed but rises as rapidly as other living expenses.

Salt is relatively inexpensive. Furthermore, comparatively little is needed after the first infusion. Only additional water needs to be infused with salt so unless the water is completely replaced, only a small percentage of the initial two hundred kilograms is needed for maintenance.

Chlorine has held the swimming pool market captive for many years. Interestingly, salt water chlorinators have been in everyday use for over thirty years. They are, therefore, well tested and proven safe and efficient.

The fact that there is a decided increase in the number of young people and adults who suffer from asthma and hay fever will probably increase demand. These swimmers will struggle to breathe comfortably in traditionally chlorinated water. They are not, however, affected by the salt which has, in addition, an antiseptic quality.

It has taken swimming pool chlorinators a long time to come into their own. The economic squeeze combined with serious concern about the impact of chemicals on the environment has probably prompted the change in maintenance methodology. Those who will benefit most from this change are those people who enjoy taking a dip. Their enjoyment will be greatly enhanced by the mildly salted water while there will be no chemicals to irritate the eyes or the skin.
