A pre workout is something that has to be taken into account or else your body is going to be put at risk when it shouldn't. A workout regimen is going to be intense but it doesn't start out that way, which is where this comes into play. If you're going to eat a meal beforehand, it's fine just as long as you wait out the digestion period that follows.
