Holiday Eating Ideas

By Vito La Fata

Do you find it tough to stay in control of your eating during the holidays? If so, you are not alone. Holiday food and drinks are delicious. But if you overdo it, you will gain weight. As you try to live a healthy lifestyle throughout the holidays, consider these suggestions to stay on the road to health.

It is not necessary to totally deprive yourself of goodies during the holidays, but if you are going to keep your weight under control, you will have to practice some discipline. And do not try to trick yourself into thinking that if you indulge now, you can make up for it after the holidays by scant eating. That plan seldom works.

It is a good idea to eat less for a few days before a big holiday celebration. The reason this works so well is because you will probably lose a little weight in the meantime and actually feel so great when the event happens that you will not want to overeat! You will have worked too hard to blow it!

Do wear your skinny jeans. When you look and feel slim you will eat less. Do not drink wine or beer. Go for hard alcohol if you must have something. Why? Because you can nurse a hard drink all night, but with wine and beer there's a higher chance you will want another. Do position yourself as far away from the appetizer table as possible.

Watch out for your television habits at parties. It is better not to sit down and start watching television; instead, walk around and talk to people. If you really want to watch a show, however, do so - just make sure that you do it while standing up!

If you are the host of the party, do not let people leave fattening food at your home when they leave. Send it all home with other people. The last thing you need is tempting food sitting on your counters! It if is not there, you will not be tempted to indulge!
