Gymnastics have their roots in Greece, moreover the name came from Greek terms, which if translated into English stands for excising naked. As a matter of fact early participants exercised while naked. Aerobics means performing systematized maneuvers using apparatuses or not. Gymnastics in Delaware is done to boost strength, coordination, physical conditioning, agility or for sport.

Bodily fitness in early Greece was achieved through cycles of maneuvers such as weight lifting, running, jumping, wrestling, throwing, and swimming. Vaulting and tumbling are the only events in the modern world that were original part of the ancient Greece aerobics. Tumbling evolved in different forms in various cultures without any outside influences.

Egypt and China had distinct types of acrobatics, which were not related to those performed in Greek, although they have certain similarities. Tumbling was done by traveling groups of thespians, jugglers, and dancers. Different types of tumble and acrobatics were in the end merged into circus. Prior to acrobatics being done on international stage they were performed by several circus organizations and people.

A system of aerobics known as floor exercise was invented and taught for medical benefits of the athlete. Free calisthenics, which entails exercising without hand apparatus like dumbbells, clubs, and wands. This form of gymnastics was originally not meant for competition but has evolved into what is currently referred to as floor exercise. Floor exercise these days is part and parcel of Olympic Games since 1932.

Vaulting, pommel horse, parallel rings horizontal bar, and rings were the games included in the first international competition in the 18s. Male calisthenics were first included on the Olympics schedule in the 18s. Female aerobics began a bit late in the 19s. Men and women took part in similar games with the exclusion of balance beam, which was entirely women event.

Aerobics competitions are held at varied levels such as university, school, club, international, college, or national levels. Current gymnastics entails six different events for men and four categories for women. Male categories are focused on aerobics and power and flexibility of the upper parts of the body. Women categories feature balance beam, uneven bars, vaulting horse, and floor exercise.

International events have different age brackets. An athlete can be categorized as a junior or senior according to their age. Junior category includes athletes below the age of sixteen years while senior group comprises of people above sixteen years. Most gymnasts begin training at young ages and reach the peak in early twenties or late teens. Late teens refer to the age bracket between fifteen years to nineteen.
